The Hague and Karnataka renew MoU at Bengaluru Tech Summit

Furthermore, during The Hague delegation’s visit to India in November 2019, in presence of the Deputy Mayor of The Hague, the Netherlands, Ms Saskia Bruines, the Karnataka The Hague Innovation Corridor MoU was signed with the Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka for collaboration in fields of Health, Cybersecurity, Agri-tech and Peace & Justice. The MoU, which is a renewal of an earlier MoU signed in 2016, will focus on identifying partnerships for tech innovation facilitation, startup exchanges and nurturing talent on both sides.

Speaking on the occasion Ms Saskia Bruines, Deputy Mayor of The Hague said: “The Hague believes in close international cooperation between government, science and industry. In our region, we are fortunate to have such close cooperation: top universities, tech hubs, economic top sectors, including Indian companies like HCL and Tech Mahindra, and a government that promotes regional cooperation. And now we are proud to underpin this by signing the MoU with the State of Karnataka”.

Mr Prashant Kumar Mishra, Director, Department of IT & BT said that “We are indeed delighted to see our relationship with The Hague, which started in IT BIZ during 2016, deepen further at Bengaluru Tech Summit 2019. The synergy between eMudhra and The Hague
One of the key deciding factors for establishing eMudhra’s Marketing and Sales office in The Hague is the fact that the city is very internationally oriented and that it has established itself as a major hub for cybersecurity in Europe. This is demonstrated by the presence of Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3), the NATO Communications and Information Agency, the Dutch cybersecurity, intelligence and security agencies as well as a wide range of cybersecurity businesses. In addition, the city is also home to The Hague Security Delta (HSD), the leading security cluster in Europe. All this has been a strong argument in favour of choosing The Hague.

Growth through effective collaborations and partnerships

The Hague Business Agency (THBA), a Foreign Investment Agency of the Municipality of The Hague, is responsible for attracting foreign investments to the city. THBA has assisted eMudhra, by providing an exclusive tailor-made business program, which included a fact-finding trip (FFT) and meetings with local government officials and stakeholders in the IT & Tech ecosystem.

THBA has explained the benefits of setting up in The Hague, where there is a vast network of cybersecurity companies and government and knowledge institutions that are forming a solid cluster, working together on innovative cybersecurity solutions and knowledge development. All of the major partners are based in The Hague, which made it an obvious choice for settling in the city.

‘’After an expansion trajectory of almost three years, I am very proud to welcome eMudhra to the city of The Hague. I believe that The Hague’s cybersecurity ecosystem provides eMudhra with the right elements to successfully kick-start their European operations,’’ says Anesh Kisoen, International Business Advisor-India at The Hague Business Agency.

THBA works in close collaboration with The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) office in Bangalore. As an operational unit of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, NFIA helps and advises foreign companies in all phases of establishing, rolling out and/or expanding their international activities in The Netherlands.

Next to that, THBA also worked in close collaboration with InnovationQuarter, leading to the successful completion of this project.

eMudhra is excited to open its Marketing and Sales office in The Hague, where the company is planning to create 100 job opportunities in the coming three to five years. Considering the good cybersecurity and partner ecosystem and good government support, eMudhra is very optimistic about the success of its European venture.
