Fast growth for Dutch software sector
Amsterdam, July 2 – Software development is becoming increasingly important in the current digitalizing world. In the past twenty years, the software & service sector has quadrupled in size and is still growing. In those years, the sector has grown more than twice as fast as the national economy itself, thereby underlining its importance for the Dutch economy. This is one of the main conclusions of the sectorvision software report, published by the ING Ecnonomisch Bureau yesterday.
“The decreasing growth, fierce competition and increased dynamics make it a challenge for companies to keep growing and expanding. Recent trends like mobile, social, analytics and cloud have redefined the sector. Especially the cloud is a major factor in cross-overs between the software sector and other sectors.
Although the sector has grown explosively, the amount of players in the field has grown even more so. Fast growth of revenues is necessary for long term success and healthy returns. The move to cloud-bases solutions ask for another approach on customer relations, product, business operations and staffing. The biggest challenge is to find developers and sellers within this new approach of working”, says Sasja Winters, Sector Manager Business Services at ING.
