The Hague Welcomes European Conference on General Thoracic Surgery
The Hague is pleased to be hosting the European Conference on General Thoracic Surgery, a two-day event that will take place on 31 May – 1 June 2020. About 1300 delegates will gather in the conference centre World Forum The Hague to collaborate, network and discuss the pressing issues of thoracic surgery. The conference will be organised by the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
“The Hague offers a perfect package of rich historical past, unrivalled reputation for hosting international events, and flawless logistics and services. I am confident that The Hague can deliver an enjoyable experience to the ESTS conference delegates,” noted Karsten Klein, deputy mayor of The Hague.
The mission of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons is to improve quality in all aspects of the specialty: from clinical and surgical management of patients to education, training and credentialing of thoracic surgeons in Europe and worldwide. The 2020 conference is yet another chance to advance this mission and the city of The Hague is an ideally fitting location for that. The Hague was selected as the location of the ESTS 2020 meeting after thorough vetting and was chosen based on the great facilities and the excellent team at World Forum The Hague. “We are looking forward to the event and to the cooperation”, said Mr Marco Scarci, Director of the Annual Meeting.
The Hague has a deserving reputation of prestige, stature and influence. It is home to the Dutch Royal Family, the Parliament, Nobel-prize winning organisations, numerous international companies and is the second largest UN city. Additionally, World Forum The Hague is a conveniently located convention centre with a multifunctional auditorium and a variety of break-out rooms.
“The Hague is a city that matters: to its residents, to the Netherlands and to the wider global community. We welcome associations and organisations with the ambition to make a difference and we are looking forward to welcome the European Conference on General Thoracic Surgery to The Hague,” commented Nienke van der Malen, director of The Hague Convention Bureau.
