LUMC starts new medical campus in The Hague
A new educational institute for medical professionals will open in The Hague: LUMC Campus The Hague. Leiden University and the Municipality of The Hague will use the new medical campus to provide innovation in health care, medical education and patient-related research in The Hague region.
The new campus will be located in the former building of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations on the Wijnhaven. The building is currently being renovated.
Once the renovation project is ready, students will be able to attend lectures and local GPs can expand their medical knowledge there. The campus chose to locate in The Hague because the LUMC plans to conduct research into illnesses which are prevalent in large cities among vulnerable population groups. Research will focus primarily on age-related illnesses, diabetes and obesity.
