Mr. Wayne Liu, Vice President of Shanghai Freemen Europe, believes that there are many logistical and administrative advantages for its selection of the Netherlands, and in particular The Hague, to access and support the European market. “The Netherlands is conveniently located within the EU, with good logistics services, efficient import and export regulations, and an excellent fiscal environment. Because of this, we believe that we can serve our European customers even better than before. Moreover, business travel is easy to plan because The Hague is close to Schiphol International Airport and Rotterdam-The Hague Airport. Our distribution center in the Rotterdam region is also easily accessible. ”
Shanghai Freemen’s most important products are vitamins, ingredients for healthy joints, herbal and tea extracts, enzymes, amino acids, natural sweeteners, food ingredients and preservatives. Europe is a promising market for the Chinese company partly because of the growing demand for products to maintain healthy joints. This trend is due to the aging population and increasing weight problems.
InnovationQuarter and WFIA have done considerable preparatory work in the past six months to support the efficient establishment of Shanghai Freemen’s European headquarters. Both organizations’ networks, including in the Chinese market, have contributed to the smooth procedures for establishing the new business.
Mr. Chris van Voorden, Director of Foreign Investment at InnovationQuarter, believes that Shanghai Freemen complements the existing regional businesses. “The company’s activities in the fields of nutrition and pharmaceutical products fit nicely in West Holland’s economic ecosystem. Moreover, The Hague is already for years an attractive location for Chinese companies, mainly because of the presence of a large Chinese population, with associated social and cultural facilities. Mr. Liu found this aspect personally very appealing. ”
There is already a Dutch employee working at the company, and in the coming months, InnovationQuarter will support Shanghai Freemen with hiring additional staff, and will introduce them to relevant contacts in the regional business networks.
